Star Polyps, Glove Polyps, & Xenids
Star Polyps are probably the hardiest soft coral, most of them able to go into a state or dormancy while your aquarium is having problems. Many of them will surprise you by not opening for weeks, then suddenly opening up again. They come in a myriad of colors, the most popular being Green Star Polyps, or GSP. Corals from this category are some of our favorite beginner corals, since you have the ability to isolate them away from slower growing ones due to their encrusting habit. The same can be said of glove polyps, and xenia as well, as long as you have provided space for the xenia to grow; our favorite place to put this in a display aquarium is the back wall!
